Vice President Leaves Blizzard Entertainment
After 20 years at Blizzard Entertainment, Jeff Kaplan decided to leave the organization. The vice president of Blizzard did not talk about the reasons for this decision.
Now Kaplan's place will be taken by Aaron Keller, who has been in the studio for a very long time. He will act as Game Director. He talked about how Overwatch 2 development is in full swing and details of the Overwatch sequel should be out soon.
Jeff Kaplan's career began when he joined the company as a QA tester to work on Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. He later joined the development of World of Warcraft and thus became the game director of the MMO direction. Some time later, Kaplan led the development of Titan, which was first canceled and later reborn into another project that we know today as Overwatch.
Blizzard said that amid the global quarantine, they are going to take responsibility and hold some Overwatch LAN championships in accordance with all the safety rules. Given the level of development of this discipline, Jeff Kaplan's work was of an impressive scale and his departure from the company could lead to not very pleasant consequences.
