Blizzard will hold 3 Overwatch LAN tournaments
More and more tournament operators and event organizers are turning their eyes to China as a potential venue for offline events. We've already seen World 2020, FMWH Dota 2 Championship Season 3, and we'll soon see a lot of competitive Overwatch.
Blizzard will host 3 LAN Finals in China. The first will be June Joust (June 4-6), the second will be the Summer Showdown (July 9-11), and the third and final Summer Event will be the Countdown Cup (August 7-8).
8 teams will take part in the championships: 5 teams from China and 3 clubs from South Korea. However, only Chinese teams will visit offline venues, while due to quarantine restrictions, South Korean e-sportsmen will not be able to play on stage, but will perform from home.
This practice is also not new for the "new era" of e-sports for a long time. The recently concluded PUBG Global Invitational.S 2021 also featured a "mixed" format with some teams on stage and some playing from home.
