Respected Halo insider Rebs Gaming has been at the center of these reports, sharing multiple updates about the alleged project over the past few months. In his latest video, he cites a source from a development support studio who claims that “the current build being tested has sprinting.”

Sprint has been a divisive mechanic within the Halo community since its introduction as an Armor Ability in 2010’s Halo: Reach. It has appeared in every mainline Halo release since then. While sprinting is a standard feature in most modern first-person shooters, many longtime Halo fans feel the series was at its best when it embraced a slower, more methodical style of combat. Others argue that sprinting is necessary to keep Halo competitive with today’s fast-paced FPS titles. If Rebs Gaming’s claims are accurate, Halo Studios may once again find itself in the middle of this community debate.

Hybrid Engine and Level Design Changes

Rebs Gaming also shared several technical details, alleging that the remake runs on a hybrid engine combining Unreal Engine 5 with a modified version of Halo: Reach’s Blam Engine — a setup similar to the technology behind the Oblivion Remaster, where two engines run simultaneously.

In addition, he claims that the remake will feature updated level design, specifically mentioning improvements to the notoriously repetitive Library mission, which has long been criticized for its length and monotony.
