When Spider-Man Goes Cubist: Unveiling the Surreal Glitch of Marvel's Spider-Man 2
With the highly anticipated release of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, players have been delving into its exciting moments and scouring for comic book Easter eggs. However, amidst the discoveries, some have stumbled upon an unexpected glitch that transforms Spider-Man into a peculiar, white, cube-like entity.
While not precisely tofu, it's the term that has come to mind for many players trying to describe this unusual phenomenon. This strange bug replaces the superhero's body with a small cube reminiscent of early development prototyping. Often dubbed "Spider-Block," this quirky glitch doesn't hinder Spider-Man's ability to perform his usual feats, such as swinging through the streets of New York and executing acrobatic combos on foes.
The glitch, though, takes the experience from cool comic book adventures to an extra-surreal dreamlike state.
Despite its prevalence, the exact cause of this bug remains a mystery. The cube-like transformations occur whenever the game fails to load either Peter Parker's or Miles Morales' suit models. To rectify the situation, players can quickly return to the suit menu and switch to a different costume. However, it's advisable to act swiftly, as there have been reports of cube-clad Spideys unexpectedly plummeting through the game map. While this might suggest a portal to an alternate blocky dimension, the safest approach is to reload from the last checkpoint should such an incident occur.
In addition to the Spider-Block phenomenon, some players have encountered game crashes or found themselves stuck in parts of the environment. A few unfortunate individuals have been unable to play the disc version of the game altogether, facing installation issues that become stuck at 36 percent. Insomniac Games has yet to provide an official solution, although the problem does not appear to be widespread. It is hoped that a resolution will be forthcoming, allowing all players to enjoy the Spider-Block experience.
