TikTok and MarvelSnap Banned in the U.S.
On January 19, 2025, the United States officially banned TikTok and other ByteDance products, including Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Marvel Snap, CapCut, AI Gauth, and Lemon8. The Supreme Court upheld the ban over national security concerns, citing potential misuse of user data by the Chinese government.
ByteDance apps are now inaccessible to U.S. users, displaying messages about their unavailability.
TikTok ceased operations in the U.S. on January 18, hours before the ban took effect. Both Apple’s App Store and Google Play removed the app, leaving users unable to download or access the platform.
The decision followed ByteDance’s failure to sell TikTok to an American owner within the required timeframe, a move mandated by U.S. law to address security threats.
The ban extends to ByteDance’s gaming titles, with Marvel Snap and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang disappearing from app stores and becoming unplayable in the U.S. Developers have expressed surprise at the sudden enforcement and are working to address the issue while fans await further updates.
