Recently, information appeared that the Security Service of Ukraine was able to uncover an underground mining farm in Vinnitsa. The local figures, who wanted to make a fortune, used many pieces of computer technology to mine cryptocurrency. In total, more than 5,000 such representatives of computer technology were counted, 3,800 of which turned out to be the previous generation Sony PlayStation 4 game consoles.

Cryptominers attracted a lot of attention due to the fact that they carried out fraud with the theft of electricity for the networks of JSC "Vinnytsiaoblenergo". Considering how much energy is consumed by the field of cryptomining and the large number of discussions around this area, such an outcome was only a matter of time.

The damage from the maintenance of such a mining farm was estimated by specialists at 5,000,000-7,000,000 hryvnia (~ $ 183,000- ~ $ 256,000) monthly. With the exception of the aforementioned 3,800 Sony PlayStation 4, cryptominers used more than 500 video cards and 50 processors for their purposes. All equipment was seized by the Security Service of Ukraine.
