HP completes acquisition of HyperX
HyperX, a division of the gaming company Kingston Technology, is now part of Hewlett Packard (HP). This is the latest step in a lengthy acquisition process that HP first announced in February.
The HyperX brand is best known for its gaming headsets and RAM, as well as other computer peripherals. The brand also has a long history of partnerships with esports teams and companies - most recently HyperX has expanded its commercial portfolio with deals with Red Bull Racing Esports and Virtus.pro.
For its part, HP is also a prominent figure in the gaming and esports industry. OMEN's own gaming brand has sponsored organizations such as Cloud9 and BIG in the past. OMEN is currently a partner with Danish esports organization Astralis.
According to a press release, HP intends to use the acquisition to spur growth in its business, where games and peripherals are "attractive segments." The approximate value of the deal is $ 425 million.
