The first quarter of the current financial year ended on March 31st. Traditionally, companies then report back to investors.

Activision was no exception and shared the successes of the past quarter. The main thing from the report is below.

  • Revenue amounted to $ 2.28 billion (+ 27%).
  • Net income was $ 619 million (+ 23%).
  • 88% of revenue came from digital products.
  • Microtransactions and paid DLC generated 70% of the revenue.
  • Call of Duty purchases are up 60%.
  • Activision has 150 million active users (+ 47%), Blizzard has 27 million (-16%) and King (+ 5%) has 258 million.

In addition to financial success, Activision shared further plans, in particular for Call of Duty. The new part will be, and its release is expected in the fall of 2021.

The development will be carried out by Sledgehammer Games, which should make a game with a single player campaign, multiplayer and co-op modes. For this, a new studio was opened in Toronto.

Development is carried out with an emphasis on the capabilities of new generation consoles. In addition, the new product is integrated into Warzone, as they did with Cold War.

Finally, Activision plans to expand the staff involved in the development and support of Call of Duty. By the end of 2022, they plan to hire about 2,000 specialists.
