Sony Receives Patent for Technology to Link Advancements to Emulated Games
Sony has patented a technology that allows it to incorporate advances into games that were released before the system was officially launched.
According to the text of the patent, Sony plans to use a special method that allows you to compare the memory values of the emulated game with a predetermined value to which one or more trophies are tied. Thus, users will be able to earn achievements in games released before PlayStation 3, where the achievement system first appeared. At the same time, the company will not need to re-release modified versions of old games.
The material also mentions the use of disc versions of games and their launch through cloud services, such as PlayStation Now. Note that the company has already registered a similar technology. In 2013, Sony received a patent for adding trophies to games for the first PlayStations, but then it was only about disc versions of games.
