Racing Simulator Studio Codemasters is now part of Electronic Arts. Developers DiRT and GRID will move under the authority of the Codex Games division.
The final deal was worth roughly $ 1.2 billion. EA Games now owns such franchises as DiRT Rally, DiRT, GRID, WRC and Project CARS. They will be added to the existing Need for Speed, Burnout and Real Racing series. EA publisher Andrew Wilson called the purchase "a new era in the racing game industry."
EA previously said it plans to release at least one racing game a year. Codemasters was initially attempted by Take-Two Interactive, but EA interrupted the offer.
