Metro Exodus Expanded Edition Announced
4A Games has announced an extended edition for Metro Exodus to add ray tracing to the game. According to the developers, Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition will appear in the spring of this year.
"We have made the decision to radically rethink the 4A engine and realize our ambition to deliver full ray tracing to next generation consoles and high-performance PCs," 4A Games announced today.
The Metro Exodus Extended Edition will differ from the original game with better in-game lighting. Studio 4A Games decided to improve this aspect after the release of Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. At the same time Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition will appear on the next generation consoles no earlier than the fourth quarter of 2021.
The Enhanced Edition will include features such as Advanced Ray-Traced Reflections and DLSS 2.0. The developers noted that this is not an ordinary patch - the update will be large-scale.
Owners of Metro Exodus on the Epic Games Store, Steam and GOG will be able to get the Extended Edition for free. Note that Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition will have increased PC requirements, while players with weak PCs will still be able to run the regular version.
