Mass Effect: Universe - Trailer for Cancelled Mass Effect 5 Has Surfaced

Electronic Arts has announced important news regarding the Mass Effect series—but, unfortunately, it doesn't include any positive developments. Specifically, a decision was made to shut down BioWare as part of the publisher's restructuring, which means that Mass Effect 5, which had been in the early stages of development for several years, has been canceled.

Quite a few franchise fans, as well as BioWare followers, were disappointed by this announcement. Meanwhile, a trailer for the fifth installment of Mass Effect, subtitled “Universe,” unexpectedly appeared on the internet. The video surfaced on Reddit, where one of the developers confirmed that the trailer is genuine. The information was also confirmed by Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, and you can watch the Mass Effect 5 trailer below:

A trailer for next Mass Effect has surfaced on Reddit, using pre-production assets.

It was titled as ‘Mass Effect: Universe’

Ngl, this looks INSANE. This could’ve been something special. EA fumbled HARD.

Interestingly, fans really liked the Mass Effect 5 trailer; in their opinion, it could have been a truly worthy product, but, unfortunately, the game will never see the light of day.

Despite the closure of BioWare and the cancellation of the fifth installment, Amazon's Mass Effect TV series is still in development. As for other major news from EA, the developers have confirmed they are working on Star Wars Battlefront 3, and, according to insider information, the next numbered installment of Battlefield is in the early stages of development as well.
