Digital Foundry Analyzed GTA 6 Launch Trailer and Concluded Game Is ‘Supremely Polished’

Fans and analysts alike have studied the new GTA 6 trailer that Rockstar released this week. It is apparently the studio’s last trailer before the game launches next month, and it seems to give an almost 100% guarantee of what the final game will look like.

Experts at Digital Foundry have published a detailed analysis of the new GTA 6 trailer on their website, focusing mainly on the technical side. According to the report, the game runs at 1440p resolution, upscaled to 4K, on the base PS5. Rockstar has also fixed several animation issues that were noticeable when the first gameplay footage came out in late August. Digital Foundry states GTA 6 looks “supremely polished,” and the developers may also have fixed one of the RAGE engine’s long-standing problems, camera shake, which goes back as far as GTA IV.

GTA 6 appears extremely polished in the new trailer and will launch in a decent state (unlike Cyberpunk 2077), according to experts from Digital Foundry:

  • Runs at 1440p upscaled to 4k on base PS5
  • Rockstar also fixed the animation stutter that appeared while the camera was moving in the Extended Look (unnoticeable for most people)
  • No details on PS5 Pro enhancements yet or QSSR on base PS5

It will be interesting to see how the game runs on Xbox Series S, but Rockstar are wizards at optimization so this shouldn’t be an issue.

The GTA 6 launch trailer came out just two days ago, but it has already passed the Extended Look gameplay presentation in views, with 35 million compared to 31 million. Fans were thrilled by the surprise from Rockstar, and even though the trailer is only a minute and a half long, they spotted scenes from earlier trailers and used them to piece together the order of events across several missions.

Grand Theft Auto VI will release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
