Rumor: NVIDIA Has Stopped Making the RTX 5090, and Existing Cards Are Vanishing From Stores

According to insiders, NVIDIA has fully stopped producing GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards. US retailer Micro Center has marked nearly every model from ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, and ZOTAC as “Not Carried” on its official website, and staff are pulling the cards off shelves in physical stores.

The first rumors appeared on October 10. Leaker MEGAsizeGPU said all future GB202 chip supply would go exclusively to professional RTX PRO cards. Fellow leakers Zed__Wang and hongxing2020 later backed this up. According to hongxing2020, the information comes from an NVIDIA notice sent to partner factories, and the halt also covers the Chinese RTX 5090 D variants. Rumor has it that a 24 GB RTX 5080 will become the new GeForce flagship.

After that, the RTX 5090 started disappearing from stores. NVIDIA removed it from the model list on its US Marketplace, although the card still appears on the general RTX 50 Series page. Micro Center now lists every model as “Not Carried,” and that matters. “Out of Stock” means a product may come back, while “Not Carried” means the store has taken it out of its active catalog.

Graphics cards may come and go, but gaming chairs aren’t going anywhere, especially Blacklyte’s. You can pick from a wide range of models on their website and count on the quality, since plenty of well-known esports organizations and players use Blacklyte gear.

The RTX 5090 problems go beyond online listings. A Reddit user said that a day before the rumors broke, Micro Center employees were taking every RTX 5090 off the shelves. When he asked why, staff told him the cards were being sent somewhere else. Another US retailer, B&H, has reportedly started marking the RTX 5090 as discontinued too.

Getting an RTX 5090 at a reasonable price was hard long before this news. The card launched in January 2025 at an MSRP of $1,999, but it now sells for anywhere from $5,000 to over $9,000 depending on the region and model. In Germany, ComputerBase reports prices starting at €5,999. If production really has stopped, prices on the remaining stock could climb even higher.

NVIDIA still hasn’t confirmed or denied that it discontinued the RTX 5090, even though the cards disappearing from stores points pretty clearly in that direction.
