Ubisoft Cancelled Assassin’s Creed Destiny Set in Ancient China - Gameplay and Details Revealed

Ubisoft is currently working on a new Assassin’s Creed game, Codename Hexe, announced back in 2022. It is the next mainline entry in the series, but it turns out the company has also been working on another project in the franchise, with a promising setting.

MP1st has revealed the first gameplay footage and details of Assassin’s Creed Destiny, a canceled game set in Ancient China. It was reportedly being developed by TiMi Studio Group, a studio owned by Tencent. The main protagonist was a female assassin fighting against Xiang Yu’s army, and one of the interesting features was a spinning umbrella used as a weapon. You can check out more details about Assassin’s Creed Destiny, along with gameplay footage, below:

  • Early footage showed a potential boss fight against Xiang Yu.
  • Gameplay included stealth, parkour, the Leap of Faith and a spinning umbrella weapon.
  • Unique air assassinations and ground takedowns.
  • Ink brush style ability icons, a health bar, and an ornate bar with a yin yang emblem visible on screen.
  • First prototype footage dates back to February 2025.
  • Animations featuring male and female characters suggest players may have been able to choose their character’s gender.

Tencent is also developing Assassin’s Creed Jade for mobile devices, which is also set in Ancient China. Ubisoft hasn’t spoken about it in a long time, but MP1st notes it is still in development. As for the canceled Assassin’s Creed Destiny, neither Ubisoft nor Tencent has commented yet.
