New Dr. Stone: Terraforming Anime Announced, Covering Events After the Main Story’s Finale

The official Dr. Stone anime account has announced a new project titled Dr. Stone: Terraforming. Along with the announcement, a short teaser was released featuring newly recorded lines from the main character, Senku. The release date and format have not been revealed yet, so it’s unknown whether it will be a full series, a special, or a film.

The anime will adapt the Terraforming story included in the 27th and final volume of the manga. It follows a new scientific adventure for Senku and his friends after the main story ends. To celebrate the announcement, anime character designer Yuko Iwasa drew a commemorative illustration.

The manga’s writer, Riichiro Inagaki, said he was happy to see the anime continue:

The anime made it all the way to the final chapter, and there’s still more…!! Please watch over Senku and the others’ science for just a little while longer. This is insanely exhilarating!!

The manga’s artist, Boichi, also shared his joy over the announcement:

I’m truly happy that we can share the joy of the news that the Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING anime is being produced. Please look forward to further updates!

The announcement comes a few months after the main anime ended. The fourth and final season, Dr. Stone: Science Future, aired in three parts from 2025 to 2026, with the series finale airing on June 25, 2026. The Dr. Stone manga by Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2017 to 2022 and became one of the most popular science adventure stories in the shonen genre.
