Slaughter Mode is an endless single-player mode in which players fight increasingly powerful waves of demons across several arenas. Martin described it like this:

An endless single player mode where players fight through escalating demon waves across multiple arenas, earning cosmetics and their personal best in round/score

The mode's main challenge is to survive as long as possible. The game will track how many rounds you survived and how many points you scored, so players can constantly compete against their own records. Runs will also award cosmetic rewards, but the developers haven't explained exactly how they can be earned yet.

Some insider channels are already sharing more detailed information about the mode:

  • a skull system that players earn during a run;
  • checkpoints every ten rounds where skulls can be exchanged;
  • weekly challenges;
  • a personal leaderboard without online rankings;
  • story bosses appearing in the mode;
  • new rewards and cosmetic items.

However, most of these details are missing from media recaps of the stream, and id Software hasn't officially confirmed them. We'll get the full picture closer to release. There's no exact release date for Slaughter Mode yet. All we know is that the update will become available in November.
