New GTA 6 Details Revealed: Map Size, Weather, NPCs, Animals, and More

Game Informer has published a new issue of its magazine dedicated to GTA 6, the most anticipated game of 2026. As a result, new screenshots of the game have already appeared, and some details have been revealed as well—but now there’s even more material available.

According to updated info on social media citing Game Informer, Rockstar has confirmed the map in GTA 6 will be twice as big as the one in the previous, fifth installment of the series. The article devoted significant attention to the game’s weather system. This aspect is reported to have been completely rebuilt from scratch in order to “achieve a sense of scale we haven’t felt before.” However, the developers did not reveal exactly how dynamic weather changes—including tropical storms and hurricanes—will affect the story and gameplay.

Rockstar has also confirmed GTA 6 will feature a significant number of fully explorable buildings, each with incredibly detailed interiors. The same applies to NPCs: every character will have a unique height, build, muscle mass, skin type, and features such as freckles, moles, and more. What's more, the developers have spent considerable time refining the game's wildlife. In the article, Game Informer specifies that animals “display iridescence, bioluminescence, translucency, and feather types, plus new hair and fur systems for coats and pelts.” Their fur is fully simulated and reacts to human interaction, and it can get wet from rain, mud, and other elements.

It sounds pretty impressive on paper, but we'd like to see how it looks in practice. Considering that a month has already passed since the GTA 6 gameplay presentation on Netflix, hopefully Rockstar will treat players to a new trailer in October.

Grand Theft Auto VI will release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
