Marvel’s Wolverine Contains an 'Easter Egg' to The Last of Us

As expected, Marvel's Wolverine, released this week, contains quite a few references and “Easter eggs”—primarily to the Marvel Universe, its characters, other members of the X-Men, and even previous Insomniac games—in particular, Marvel's Wolverine. But players have also discovered a possible "Easter egg" related to one of PlayStation Studios’ best games.

This refers to The Last of Us. A possible “Easter egg” can be spotted during the “The One That Got Away” level. Logan can enter an isolated room that vaguely resembles the atmosphere of the Naughty Dog game—thanks to the presence of several plants, various string lights and lamps, and especially a guitar, which frequently appears in The Last of Us Part II and which is played by the central characters, Ellie and Joel. However, this is merely speculation by players and not a confirmed connection to the game series.

Despite mixed reviews from critics and the gaming community, Marvel's Wolverine sold 1.9 million copies in its first three days after release, making it PlayStation Studios' most successful launch of 2026. However, according to an updated report, the game is unlikely to achieve significant financial results—don’t expect it to sell 18 million copies, as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has done.

As for other Easter eggs and references in Marvel's Wolverine, the game mentions several well-known mutants—Cyclops, Beast, Gambit, Angel, and others. Daredevil is also mentioned, which sets the stage for his full-fledged debut in Marvel's Spider-Man 3; additionally, the game features books related to Spider-Man and J. Jonah Jameson.
