It is known that Media Molecule, the studio behind games such as LittleBigPlanet and Dreams, is working on a new project—presumably for the PlayStation 5. A new report reveals exactly when the studio will unveil the new game and what it will be like.

The exclusive report was shared by the reputable MP1st, citing a source close to the new game—possibly one of the developers. According to the report, the new project from Media Molecule will be a completely new title—it is described as “a social-simulation-type game” in the vein of Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon, where players will need to interact with other characters. It is also reported the studio’s new IP will feature live-service elements—though the game itself is not a live-service title by design. Finally, MP1st reveals the full announcement and release are already scheduled for 2027.

This isn't the first time we've heard details about a new game developed by Media Molecule. Back in May, MP1st reported the studio's new project might feature an open world, as indicated by job postings on the developer's website.

It's unclear when PlayStation and Media Molecule will unveil the new game, but it's possible that it will happen during one of the State of Play presentations in 2027.
