CD Projekt RED Revealed Updated Sales of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 and Shared Future Plans

CD Projekt RED remains one of the biggest game studios as of today. The Polish studio currently has several big-budget projects in development, including The Witcher 4 and a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, and the company’s recent financial report confirms updated sales figures for the aforementioned games and reveals plans for the future.

On its official website, CD Projekt RED published sales figures for the first half of 2026, which show significant growth in profit and revenue. The company reports that revenue for the first half of the year totaled 435 million PLN (approximately $116.5 million), a 25% increase compared to the same period last year. Additionally, CD Projekt RED’s net income from operating activities rose by 37% compared to 2025. As for specific games, the studio reported that total sales of The Witcher franchise reached 90 million copies, while Cyberpunk 2077 surpassed the 40 million mark. Meanwhile, the Phantom Liberty expansion for the 2020 game has sold 15 million copies, which is also an incredible achievement.

The studio also shared information about its developing team. Specifically, it was revealed that The Witcher 4 is currently being developed by the studio’s largest crew, consisting of 519 employees. Songs of the Past—an upcoming expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt set to release next year—ranks second. Next are Cyberpunk 2 (184 people), Project Sirius (a multiplayer spin-off of The Witcher) with 84 people, and Project Hadar (a new IP) with 33 people. Regarding Songs of the Past, CD Projekt RED also confirmed that the DLC has been added to wishlists over 900,000 times.

CD Projekt Red has 1,045 developers working across its ongoing projects as of July 31, up from 975 in April.

Cyberpunk 2077 has also reached 40 million copies sold, with Phantom Liberty at 15 million.

CDPR says Cyberpunk has become an “evergreen franchise”, and Michał Nowakowski teased that the announced projects are “not a full list” of what the company is working on in the universe.

It’s worth noting that Fool’s Theory, the studio behind Songs of the Past, is also working on The Witcher Remake, which was announced in 2022. However, CD Projekt Red co-CEO Michał Nowakowski recently confirmed that development had to be postponed in order to focus on other projects—specifically, the aforementioned DLC, Songs of the Past, and The Witcher 4, which, as was recently revealed, is scheduled for release in 2028. Additionally, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will be released this month, offering players updated graphics and an improved combat system—and owners of the original game will receive it for free.
