Rockstar Games Announced NoPixel V—Massive Update for GTA 5’s Role-Playing Server

Over the past week, for the first time in a long while, Rockstar Games has turned the spotlight back on GTA 6—and it did so in a big way. On August 27, Netflix premiered Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, which revealed gameplay from the most anticipated game of the year, and it seems the game is now in the midst of an active marketing campaign, as new details are emerging almost every day.

Nevertheless, a recent announcement from the developers serves as a reminder that they haven’t forgotten about GTA 5 and its multiplayer part, GTA Online, which continues to generate staggering revenue. Rockstar Games has announced NoPixel V —an update to the role-play server that brings significant new features to the game and opens up new possibilities for players. Closed beta testing will begin on September 8, with 439 players participating.

As users have noted, No Pixel V resolves one of the major mysteries in GTA 5—the skyscraper in Los Santos that seems to be under construction forever. As one of the concept art images shows, the building appears to be completely finished, even though it took nearly 13 years of real-world time to complete.

The perpetually unfinished skyscraper from GTA 5 has finally finished construction after 13 years for NoPixel V only.

Even with the upcoming release of GTA 6, Rockstar Games continues to actively support GTA Online and is expected to do so for some time to come. This is one of the reasons why the sixth installment reportedly won’t feature a multiplayer mode in the coming years—a recent report suggests that players may have to wait a year, or even two, before GTA 6 Online becomes available.

NoPixel V will be available on September 8. Grand Theft Auto VI is confirmed to release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
