Kraken Express Revealed Details About the First Massive Update For Windrose - Ashlands

This April, Kraken Express released their debut project—a pirate simulator titled Windrose, which became one of the biggest surprises of 2026. The game not only managed to attract a huge number of players, but it also sold 2 million copies in its first month, which is an impressive achievement for a new title available in early access.

Previously, the developers have also unveiled their update strategy for Windrose: their top priority is to fix bugs and resolve technical issues before releasing new content for the game. However, the studio decided to cheer up their fans and shared an important announcement regarding Windrose’s first major update. In a new developer diary, Kraken Express confirmed that the Windrose update is still in the early stages of development but revealed what players can look forward to. Specifically, the studio is working on adding a new game location—a ruined Spanish colony—as well as new types of weapons, armor, a ship, and even a new boss. The storyline will also see changes, which include new side quests, an updated building system, improved enemy AI, and much more. As mentioned above, the release date for the Ashlands update has not been confirmed. However, the fact that the developers have shared the first footage and revealed some of its details means that the work on it is progressing well.
