New Halo Video Game Titled Project Ekur Is Rumored to Be Cancelled
As you may know, Halo: Campaign Evolved, the remake of the original title, which came out in 2001, will finally release this month. However, according to recent reports, another game set in the Halo universe, codenamed Project Ekur, was reportedly in development. Although it looks like the project now could be cancelled.
According to previous rumors, Project Ekur is a standalone multiplayer title set in the Halo universe, using Unreal Engine 5. Although the game has not been officially confirmed, Rebs Gaming, with a reference to multiple Halo Studios workers, revealed that active development of the game was stopped last summer. Following this, most of the developers were reassigned to the Campaign Evolved team. You can check out more detailed information taken from a Reddit post below:
Halo project ekur cancelled leaks
After making a few recent project ekur leak videos that were getting buzz online, 3 halo studios current devs reached out to Rebs just a few days back and confirmed that project Ekur is now cancelled.
The Devs revealed that Ekur was 100% real and was actively worked on til summer of 2025. It's development stalled after the ce remake was running into some development issues, and a large portion of the Ekur team were forced to move across to ce to help.
It's unknown whether it was cancelled cause most Devs moved to ce, or that they just happened to change plans for future games and Ekur was cancelled.
This doesn't mean there aren't still multiplayer projects being built. Expect late this year to have a reveal for the next mp game.
This next part is rebs own speculation: He thinks now that the next mp game will be a more classic Halo game.
Despite the possible cancellation of Project Ekur, other rumors suggest there might be another video game set in the Halo universe that is currently in development. The project’s title remains unknown, but multiple sources have previously confirmed that it will be an MMOFPS similar to Destiny 2. But it’s worth noting that Halo Studios or Xbox haven’t made any official statements on the matter.
