Nintendo Is Opening a Zelda and Metroid-Themed Restaurant in Japan
Nintendo is expanding its themed attractions with the announcement of a brand-new restaurant set to open later in autumn 2026. Located at the Nintendo Museum in Uji, Japan, the upcoming venue will feature decorations and references inspired by some of the company's most beloved franchises, including The Legend of Zelda and Metroid.
Nintendo Reveals Super Family Restaurant
The new dining location will be called Super Family Restaurant, a name that pays tribute to the Japanese version of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, known as the Super Famicom (Super Family Computer).
While Nintendo has not yet revealed the full menu or opening date, the company has shared the restaurant's logo and several preview images showcasing the interior.
At first glance, the venue resembles a traditional family restaurant, but Nintendo fans will quickly spot several iconic displays throughout the space.
Zelda and Metroid-Themed Decorations
Among the highlights shown so far are:
- A replica of the Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda
- A life-sized statue that appears to depict Link from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- A detailed display of Samus Aran's Power Suit from the Metroid series
Nintendo has also confirmed that the restaurant will offer a variety of meals and desserts, although specific menu items have yet to be announced.
Nintendo Museum Already Features a Themed Café
Visitors heading to the Nintendo Museum before the restaurant opens will still have a themed dining option available.
The museum currently hosts Hatena Burger, a Nintendo-themed café inspired primarily by the Mario franchise, while also featuring decorations based on Zelda and Animal Crossing.
Nintendo has not announced any plans to close Hatena Burger, suggesting that both venues will operate side by side once the new restaurant opens.
A Growing Attraction for Nintendo Fans
First announced in 2021 and officially opened in 2024, the Nintendo Museum offers visitors an in-depth look at the company's history. The attraction features interactive exhibits, workshops, and displays covering Nintendo's evolution from a playing-card manufacturer to one of the world's most influential gaming companies.
The museum is located on the site of a former Nintendo facility that once produced trading cards and handled product repairs, making it a significant location in the company's history.
Nintendo-Themed Dining Beyond Japan
For fans unable to visit Japan, Nintendo-themed dining experiences are also available in the United States through Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Epic Universe Orlando.
Visitors can enjoy attractions based on the Mario franchise while dining at locations such as Toadstool Cafe and Power Up Cafe, which serve food and drinks inspired by Nintendo's iconic characters and worlds.
With the upcoming launch of Super Family Restaurant, Nintendo continues to expand its real-world experiences, giving fans even more ways to immerse themselves in the worlds of Zelda, Metroid, Mario, and beyond.
