Ubisoft Shared New Gameplay and Details of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, the remake of 2013’s original game, remains one of the most anticipated releases of 2026. Last month, Ubisoft finally revealed an official look at the game and presented the first details, which, judging by what is already known about the project, will make players perceive the updated version of the game differently.
Beyond the substantial visual overhaul powered by the engine used in the latest Assassin's Creed titles, Black Flag Resynced will delight players with fresh content, including narrative expansions and the introduction of new characters, as well as a wealth of refinements to the core gameplay loop. For instance, Edward Kenway can now keep a pet on board and outfit his ship with new cannons. Furthermore, Ubisoft has implemented significant upgrades to character animations, parkour mechanics, and the game's modern-day segments.
Quite recently, the studio also shared the new gameplay of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced and shared some new and exciting details. You can check them out and a report presented by IGN below:
- Social stealth returns: hide in crowds, blend with courtesans, or sit on benches to tail targets and eavesdrop on conversations.
- You can now dive underwater at any location, rather than being restricted to designated points.
- Edward retains his Eagle Vision, which remains identical to the original mechanic, allowing you to tag enemies.
- Furthermore, you can perform stealth rope attacks to pull enemies toward you.
- Cities are part of a vast game world, featuring completely seamless, load-free navigation.
- The protagonist can now toggle their hood on and off.
The creative director of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, Paul Fu, also revealed more details about the combat system. Specifically, although players will not be able to use the hidden blade as a selective weapon, you can still use it to break the enemy’s defense and also use Wall Takedown to knock the enemy back into the wall, dealing them a fatal blow. The enemy AI has also been reworked with the Adaptive Enemies feature; they will now react to Edward Kenway’s repetitive behavior and respond faster if the player uses the same techniques.
Besides Black Flag Resynced, Ubisoft is also developing the next mainline game in the series—Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe, which is reportedly set to release in 2027, as well as a multiplayer title—Assassin's Creed Codename Invictus, a first look at which was recently leaked. Moreover, there is information that the studio is also working on 2007’s Assassin’s Creed remake.
As for Black Flag Resynced, the game is releasing on July 9 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
