NVIDIA may release their processor
The head of NVIDIA spoke about the possibility of releasing his own processor after the purchase of ARM. Jen-Hsun Huang said this in an interview with Tom's Hardware.
Despite the word "processor", Jensen did not mean a full-fledged entry into the computer market to compete with AMD and Intel. NVIDIA are considering licensing their own brand CPU, releasing reference products, and also wanting to develop some of their own solutions based on off-the-shelf cores. NVIDIA has a track record of making processors, but they had low power consumption for smartphones and tablets made with an ARM-based Tegra GPU.
Recall that on September 14, NVIDIA entered into a deal with SoftBank, which resulted in the acquisition of ARM for $ 40,000,000,000. The purchase will be completed approximately 18 months after the approval of some regulators based in the US, Europe, UK and China.
