Grand Theft Auto VI Might Be Inspired by 2005’s Crime Film with Christian Bale

Despite various leaks, we still don’t know much about the storyline of Grand Theft Auto VI, and it’s a good thing. Obviously, the plot is centered around two protagonists—Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos—and two trailers of GTA 6 give a rough idea of what players can expect in the game: chases, shootouts, heists, and other such things that we all love so much in GTA.

A lot of fans are seeing Jason and Lucia as a modern version of Bonnie and Clyde, which makes sense, but as revealed by X social media GTA 6 Countdown, with a reference to Reddit user JohnDeanNYC, the history of Jason might be actually inspired by the movie Harsh Times—2005's action crime film, directed by David Ayer. Specifically, we are talking about Christian Bale’s character from the movie—Jim Davis, who has a lot of things in common with GTA 6’s protagonist, as you can check out below:

• Jim Davis has the same initials as Jason Duval;
• Jim’s ex-girlfriend in a movie (played by Samantha Esteban) is a Latina, just like Lucia, her name is Letty;
• Jim is a former Army Ranger who has a matching tattoo on his arm—Jason also has a tattoo on his arm, the GTA equivalent of Rangers;
• Christian Bale’s character is also a criminal in the movie who was rejected by a police department, but then he was hired by federals to lead tactical units in South America;
• Just like Jason in GTA 6, the movie is teasing that Jim was raised among the criminals;
• Movie’s intro might be recreated in GTA 6, similar to Jason's prehistory. Jim has a dream that takes him back to Afghanistan and shows him one of the raids before he wakes up;
• After all, the characters even look alike;
