Development of Star Wars Eclipse Might Not Be Going Well
Announced back in 2021 at The Game Awards, Star Wars Eclipse, developed by Quantic Dream (Detroit: Become Human, Heavy Rain), still doesn’t have a release date. We haven’t heard about the game for a while, and the latest report teases that there might be some issues about its development.
During the latest episode of Insider Gaming Weekly, it’s been revealed that the development of Star Wars Eclipse is going very slow. For now, part of the game is pretty much confirmed, but developers are said to be making “very little progress over months.” Moreover, it’s also related to the recently released Spellcasters Chronicles, as NetEase, the parent company of Quantic Dream, hopes to use the game as the source of profit, which can potentially have an impact on Eclipse’s further development, as you can check out below:
“At this stage, the long-term outlook is less driven by creative capabilities and more by financial viability. Should Spellcasters fail commercially, NetEase is expected to reevaluate its commitment to the studio and could opt to discontinue further investment.”
Star Wars Eclipse is not the only Star Wars game with an uncertain future. Another game based on the franchise, the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, was announced the same year as Eclipse; it is now under development by Mad Head Games, not Aspyr studio, as was initially confirmed, and still has no release date. However, there is a chance the game could be finally revealed this year.
There are also rumors that Star Wars Jedi 3 could be announced on May 4 —the national Star Wars Day.
