New NieR Game Has Been Announced But Fans Thinking It’s a Joke

On April Fools' Day, it’s best to take everything that’s said and announced with a grain of salt. Nevertheless, fans of the NieR game series are still racking their brains over the recent announcement of what is supposedly a new game in the franchise.

On the X social media account of NieR, the teaser of a possible new video game has been released at midnight Japan Standard Time. A short video includes some robotic creature with a tentacle instead of a head, and it ends with the title Nier: Cosmic Horror. You can check out the announcement that could be an April Fools’ Day joke below:

Or is it despair in the guise of salvation?”

The intrigue is further heightened by the cryptic description of the tweet, which mentions both hope and despair, as if hinting that the video could represent either hope for the announcement of a new installment or despair that it’s just a prank.

At this point, neither Square Enix nor PlatinumGames, the developers of NieR games, has revealed more of NieR: Cosmic Horror, but hopefully we figure this out at the end of the day.
