Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake Could Be Released This Year
Back in 2022, Remedy announced the remake of Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, which is set to be a standalone product titled Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake. Rockstar Games is also taking part in the development, and the game will use Northline Engine, the same engine we saw in Alan Wake 2, and will be presented in the upcoming Control Resonant.
Since the announcement almost 4 years ago, we haven’t heard many details about the upcoming project. This time, reliable PlayStation insider TCMFGames throws the light on Max Payne 1 & 2's possible release date and production info. According to him, the full production of Max Payne 1 & 2 started in 2024, with the release date this year remaining possible but could be postponed to 2027, as you can check out below:
- Max Payne 1 & 2 remake with Rockstar is in full production;
- The remake entered full production in H1 2024;
- Production takes 1–2 years plus 6 months of beta testing;
- Game could release by the end of 2026 but likely 2027 because of GTA 6;
Although insider has proven himself as a reliable scooper, as he was the first to reveal John Wick video game is in development, neither Rockstar Games nor Remedy has confirmed the release date of the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake so far. Both studios are definitely busy this year, as Remedy is expected to release Control Resonant, the sequel to Control, in 2026, and Rockstar Games is preparing for GTA 6's launch this November.
Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake is in development for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
