Todd Howard Has Described The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as Continuation to Fallout 3

The fans of Bethesda Game Studios must be excited over the studio’s upcoming future releases. Next month, Starfield is receiving the biggest update so far, titled Free Lanes, and it will finally release on PlayStation 5. The studio is also reportedly working on multiple Fallout installments, including Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas remastered versions and Fallout 5. Plus, it’s been a while since the announcement of The Elder Scrolls VI, but the game is still on the cards.

Recently, Bethesda boss Todd Howard has spoken to GamesRadar, where he has spoken about the evolution of the studio’s titles. During the conversation, Howard explained that with each new release, developers are studying the groundwork from previous installments and trying to improve it. He also made a solid statement by calling The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, one of Bethesda's biggest titles, a sequel to Fallout 3 in terms of making the new steps. "We feel we're in a really good place with these franchises. Obviously, we're around Fallout stuff as well, and we feel good about that. The trick is still we have three big audiences, and in some ways, three big franchises – and in a lot of ways, the franchise is the studio. Skyrim is somewhat the sequel to Fallout 3. Fallout 4 is somewhat our follow-up to Skyrim."

Following the logic, Starfield can be considered a “sequel” to Fallout 4 and a precursor to The Elder Scrolls VI, as confirmed by Todd Howard. Speaking of The Elder Scrolls VI, despite being announced at E3 2018, the game still doesn’t have a release date. According to last year’s report of gaming interviewer Reece “Kiwi Talkz” Reilly, The Elder Scrolls VI definitely went through development hell and could be launched as early as 2028-2029. At the same time, former franchise developer Kurt Kuhlman revealed the game was set to be released after Fallout 4—and this is at odds with recent comments from Todd Howard.
