Firesprite Studio Cancelled Breaking Bad Video Game for PlayStation 5
Firesprite is known as a first-party PlayStation studio that has been working on some VR projects—The Persistence and Horizon Call of the Mountain. Unfortunately, the studio had to cancel a few different titles due to layoffs back in 2024, and more information about these games is now revealed.
Last year, Bloomberg revealed Firesprite developed a battle-royale live-service Twisted Metal video game, one of the all-time classics for PlayStation platforms. According to the new MP1st report, the studio also worked on a Breaking Bad VR video game; it is mentioned the title would have been similar to Stranger Things: The VR Experience, focusing on narrative experience and featuring some locations from the series, including Walter White’s backyard and the New Mexico desert. The second game was a new IP in the genre of sci-fi horror. The studio is set to have been working on the title from 2018 to 2020, with some of the early art having surfaced online, and you can check it out below:
According to previous reports, Firesprite is currently working on Project Heartbreak —narrative-driven horror with a female lead and set on an island. The game is reportedly using Unreal Engine 5, releasing on PC and PlayStation 5, and even described as a sequel to Until Dawn.
