New BioShock Movie Gets Exciting Update From the Producer

BioShock movie is confirmed to be in development at Netflix; although the details mostly remain unknown, Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games) will serve as its director, while Michael Green (Blade Runner 2049) and Justin Rhodes (Terminator: Dark Fate) are working on the movie’s script.

The release date and the start of production are currently unknown, but in a recent interview with Collider, producer Roy Lee revealed the production of BioShock movie will begin sooner than expected; he is also hoping the movie will release at the time to tie in with another BioShock video game, which was announced back in 2019.

“I know that Netflix and Take-Two are very anxious to see the movie come out because they want to have the release coincide with some of the potential new incarnations of the game. I know that the intent is to hopefully get in production next year”

Considering the production of BioShock movie is likely to be started in 2027, according to Roy Lee, we can expect the release for the movie, as well as the video game, could happen in 2028 or even in 2029, though it remains a speculation for the moment.

As for the new BioShock video game, the game is being developed by 2K Games, led by Cloud Chamber, and it's reportedly going through a difficult development stage, as last year the studio lost almost 100 employees. Recently, Gore Verbinski revealed the details of the cancelled BioShock movie, where he was set to be the director. Unfortunately, the title was abandoned, as it was too risky for Universal Pictures back in 2018.
