System Badges Removed From Profiles

Roblox had previously announced plans to phase out system badges, explaining that many of them are no longer earnable and no longer align with how users and creators express themselves on the platform today. As part of this shift, system badges have now been removed from public user profiles.

However, they have not been completely erased. Instead, Roblox has converted them into avatar pin accessories featuring the same icons as the original badges. Players can now equip these pins as front accessories on their avatars, making them visible in-game to other users.

Developer, verification, and administrator badges remain unaffected and will continue to be displayed as before. According to Roblox, more than one billion items were distributed during the badge conversion process.

Community Reaction Remains Divided

The response from players has been mixed. When the change was first announced, many fans expressed frustration over the removal of a long-standing feature. Allowing badges to remain as wearable accessories helped soften the reaction for some users.

Supporters of the new system argue that the pin format allows players to highlight specific badges they value most, rather than having them buried in their profiles. Others, however, remain dissatisfied, pointing out that system badges had been a core part of Roblox for nearly two decades.

Some players have suggested that a compromise would have been preferable—keeping badges visible on profiles while also allowing them to be worn as avatar accessories.

Ongoing Platform Changes Frustrate Some Fans

The badge update is the latest in a series of changes that have generated debate within the Roblox community. Recent updates to avatar heads also drew criticism, particularly due to the possibility that certain static heads could be removed from inventories if creators fail to convert them to dynamic versions.

Age verification requirements have sparked further controversy. To gain full access to chat features, users must provide a selfie or identification to confirm their age. Chat functionality is now segmented by age group, restricting communication between users outside designated ranges. While these measures are intended to improve child safety, they have faced resistance from some players. Similar policies on platforms like Discord have also prompted backlash.

Broader Challenges for the Platform

In some regions, access to Roblox has faced even greater challenges. The game was recently banned in Egypt, preventing players in the country from accessing the platform altogether. In such cases, users must wait for Roblox Corporation to negotiate with local authorities.

There is precedent for reversals, as Roblox previously restored access in Jordan after reaching an agreement. However, no guarantees have been made regarding other regions.
