Back in 2022, the remake of the very first The Witcher video game was announced, but since then we haven’t heard much. Moreover, it looks like the game could actually be delayed.

According to the X social media account WitcherIVNews, with a reference to Noble Securities, The Witcher remake has been postponed, and the game is now expected to release in 2028. The reason is Fool’s Theory, the studio responsible for the remake’s development, has been reassigned to work on the upcoming The Witcher 4, as you can check below:

“The Witcher 1 Remake has been delayed by one year to 2028, according to Noble Securities.

Fool's Theory, the studio developing The Remake has been reassigned to assist The Witcher 4. This has significantly slowed progress, and The Remake is now expected to release in 2028.”

According to previous rumors, Fool’s Theory is also working on a new DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that should be released this year. However, CD Projekt RED hasn’t given any comments on this.

The Witcher 4 also currently doesn’t have a release date.
