Fortnite May Be Getting an Overwatch Crossover, According to a New Leak

Fortnite is reportedly preparing for a crossover with Overwatch, if a new claim from a well-known leaker is to be believed. If confirmed, the collaboration would add another major franchise to Epic Games’ long list of partnerships — and potentially become one of Fortnite’s most unexpected crossovers to date.

The information comes from prominent Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR, who has a strong track record of accurately revealing upcoming content related to Epic’s battle royale. On January 23, the insider shared what may be one of their boldest claims yet, suggesting that an Overwatch crossover is on the way.

Fortnite x Overwatch Crossover Could Arrive by Spring 2026

According to ShiinaBR, a Fortnite collaboration with Overwatch is expected to launch within the next three months, meaning before the end of April 2026. While no concrete details were shared, such crossovers typically include themed skins, emotes, and cosmetic items.

Some Fortnite collaborations arrive alongside large-scale in-game events, while others are released as smaller cosmetic drops. It remains unclear which format this rumored crossover would follow, but given the scale and popularity of both franchises, a full event-style launch appears more likely than a limited release.

Why This Crossover Would Be Unusual

Fortnite is no stranger to collaborations, regularly teaming up with movies, TV shows, celebrities, musicians, and video game franchises. However, an Overwatch crossover stands out due to the nature of the relationship between the two games.

Unlike many past collaborations, Overwatch is not a dormant IP or a single-player title. It is an active live-service shooter with a similar monetization model, including battle passes and cosmetic-focused content. Both games also compete for overlapping audiences, making cross-promotion more complex than standard licensing deals.

Collaborations between active live-service games are rare, as they effectively involve promoting a direct competitor. Overwatch and Fortnite have also shared a long-standing cultural rivalry, often fueled by online comparisons and debates between their communities.

Blizzard’s Conservative Approach to Crossovers

Another factor adding to the surprise is Blizzard’s traditionally cautious stance on branded collaborations in Overwatch. Historically, most Overwatch crossovers have involved external entertainment brands or unexpected partnerships, such as the Overwatch 2 x Porsche collaboration in 2024, rather than direct competitors in the live-service space.

If the rumored crossover materializes, it would mark a notable shift for Blizzard and further reinforce Fortnite’s position as a central hub for gaming crossovers — often described as a “metaverse” within the industry.

Could This Be a True Two-Way Collaboration?

Given that both titles operate as live-service games, this partnership may not be a one-sided deal. Typically, Epic Games licenses IPs solely for Fortnite content. However, Blizzard could potentially pursue a more balanced cross-promotion, with cosmetic items appearing in both Fortnite and Overwatch, aimed at boosting engagement across both player bases.
