Ninja Theory Is Working On a New Hellblade Video Game
Over the recent years, Ninja Theory has developed a duology of the Hellblade series—Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice in 2017 and its sequel, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, in 2024. And it seems like the studio is looking to make the next, third game in the series really special—and some unexpected decisions have already been made.
As reported by AltChar, with a reference to Jez Corden from Windows Central, Ninja Theory’s Project Mara is no longer in development, as the studio is now fully focused on Hellblade 3—and Ninja Theory is planning to change the game concept to make it less cinematic than the two previous titles and more interactive so more players will be able to rate the game, as Jez Corden explains:
“It's gonna be a bit more interactive than Hellblade 1 and 2. They want to make it more of a game, and broaden its appeal."
Speaking of the cancelled Project Mara, the editor also reveals it wasn’t really a game; it was more like a concept, using photogrammetry and Lidar scanning for extreme realism, set to take place in a single apartment. Project Mara was announced 5 years ago with a teaser, but it seems like the teaser is all that’s left from the game.
