GTA: Vice City Is Now Playable in Your Browser — Even on Mobile

The classic Rockstar Games title GTA: Vice City can now be played directly in a web browser, including on mobile devices, without downloading the full game. What initially sounds like another emulator rumor has turned into a functional and surprisingly polished experience.

This browser-based version was made possible by the team behind Dos Zone, a platform known for running games directly in modern browsers. The port allows players to jump into Vice City almost instantly on mobile, PC, or tablet, with minimal data usage and smooth performance. The game requires only around 56 MB to start, while additional data streams dynamically as players move through the city.

Importantly, this is not a stripped-down build. The full story content is intact, and cutscenes appear noticeably sharper than in older releases. The original gameplay experience is preserved, with support for touch controls, gamepads, multiple screen resolutions, as well as local and cloud saves. On mobile devices, both portrait and landscape orientations are supported, delivering a surprisingly fluid experience for a browser-based game.

The project is currently available as a limited demo. Players are free to explore and play without restrictions until reaching the first major story checkpoint at the Ocean View Hotel. Progressing beyond that point requires uploading an original GTA: Vice City game file.

According to the developers, the project serves educational and research purposes, demonstrating the capabilities of modern web technologies through open-source tools. For those seeking a quick dose of nostalgia or an example of what browser gaming can achieve today, the demo is available via the official website.
