The game wasn’t perfect but fans and critics really enjoyed the story, characters, the atmosphere of Sicily and the beauty of open world. Moreover, Take-Two Interactive, parent company of the game’s publisher 2K, didn’t expect the game will have such an exciting financial success; it’s also likely that new games could be in development soon.

As you can see by tweets above, a lot of players are unhappy that Mafia: The Old Country hasn't received any place at The Game Awards 2025 categories. Some of them really were impressed by the story and actor's performances - especially Johnny Santiago who voiced antagonist Don Bernardo Torrisi.
