Demon’s Souls October 2025 Update (v1.007.000)

Demon’s Souls has received a surprise update to version 1.007.000 this October, marking its first notable patch in a while. The update follows the recent PlayStation 5 firmware upgrade, which introduced the new Power Saver mode — and now, Demon’s Souls officially supports it.

Power Saver Compatibility Arrives

The main addition in version 1.007.000 is full integration with PS5’s Power Saver feature. This mode, rolled out in September 2025, reduces the console’s energy consumption while playing select titles.

Alongside Demon’s Souls, only a few other games — such as Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Ghost of Yotei — currently support the feature.

Players can enable it by navigating to:Settings → System → Power Saving → Enable Power Saver Mode

It’s not yet clear which additional games will join the compatibility list, but more titles are expected to be added gradually.

⚙️ Performance Trade-Offs

While the new mode helps cut down power usage, it comes with noticeable performance sacrifices. Reports indicate that when Power Saver mode is active:

  • Frame rate caps at 30 FPS (down from 60 FPS)
  • Resolution drops from 4K to a lower quality setting

According to energy tests, power draw falls dramatically — from around 230W under normal conditions to just 100W in Power Saver mode. This makes it an appealing choice for players who want to reduce heat output or electricity consumption, especially during long play sessions.

🌍 Sony’s Sustainability Push

This update reflects Sony’s broader environmental goals to make the PlayStation ecosystem more energy-efficient. Beyond that, industry watchers believe this initiative could tie into PlayStation’s rumored handheld project, which might leverage similar energy-saving technology to balance performance and efficiency — much like devices such as the Steam Deck or ROG Ally X.

Summary

The October 2025 update doesn’t add new gameplay or content to Demon’s Souls, but it brings an important hardware-level enhancement. Players can now experience the haunting beauty of Boletaria with a smaller environmental footprint — proving that even a five-year-old masterpiece can adapt to modern gaming priorities.
