Truckful Demo Puts You Behind the Wheel of a Haunted Forest Delivery Run

The new demo for Truckful, a mysterious delivery game developed by MythicOwl, offers a short but memorable glimpse into its eerie atmosphere, quirky humor, and unexpected supernatural turn. Set across narrow forest tracks and quiet rural lanes, it places players in the cab of a small pickup truck tasked with completing delivery runs — until the ghostly presence of a monstrous truck disrupts the calm.

The preview, described by Mark Warren of Eurogamer, captures a strange blend of cozy driving simulation and surreal horror. Players begin by taking on a simple task: delivering goods across a scenic woodland route. Early on, the job expands when a woman named Rotti joins the trip after her van breaks down. She and her cargo must be loaded into the pickup’s bed, creating a mini puzzle of physics-based item stacking. The mechanic requires squeezing seven items into four slots, with the added ability to flip and balance objects.

That moment quickly becomes the source of one of the demo’s odder interactions. Rotti can be placed upside down in the truck bed — a choice the game accepts without complaint. The tone, according to Warren, leans toward lighthearted absurdity rather than realism, with the physics system reinforcing the sense that Truckful doesn’t take itself too seriously.

From there, the drive continues through twisting woodland paths viewed from a side-on camera perspective. The controls are simple but demand precision, as even small mistakes can lead to mission failure. At one point, a misplaced turn caused flowers in the truck bed to scatter, instantly ending the delivery. The checkpoint system, however, ensures that setbacks remain minor.

Deliveries completed during the day bring small rewards and progression. One stop involves dropping off goods to an elderly woman who restores the truck’s headlights and horn. With the sun down and the road now lit, the player and Rotti set off into the forest again — this time side by side in the cab, ending the earlier sight of her balancing on her head.

The atmosphere shifts drastically when night falls. The calm forest hum gives way to an unnerving mechanical roar echoing in the distance. A distorted horn blares like a mix between a foghorn and an air raid siren, marking the arrival of what Warren calls “the ghost truck.” This towering apparition of metal and sound begins to pursue the pickup through the dark woods. The chase intensifies as players must navigate hairpin turns at speed while trying to stay ahead of the pursuing phantom.

Warren’s run through the demo nearly ended in disaster when a missed switchback sent the truck sliding into a low wall. Despite that, he managed to recover and outrun the spectral pursuer, suggesting that future versions of the game might ramp up the challenge of the encounter.

The Truckful demo is brief, structured as a slice of a single in-game day and night. It offers enough hints at the game’s blend of physics-based driving and supernatural mystery to intrigue players without revealing too much. The tone alternates between comedic and unsettling, supported by charming visuals and a soundtrack that leans into ambient forest soundscapes.

While the narrative mysteries remain lightly sketched in this early build, Truckful’s combination of quirky physics, character humor, and paranormal tension sets it apart from traditional driving games. Its demo captures a curious rhythm: delivering packages by day, escaping ghosts by night.
