Genshin Impact Reveals Nefer: The 5-Star Dendro Catalyst of Version 6.1
Genshin Impact has officially unveiled Nefer, the enigmatic boss of the Curatorium of Secrets, as a 5-Star Dendro Catalyst arriving in Version 6.1. With Version 6.0 now in full swing, the Traveler has been welcomed into Nod-Krai, a bustling hub on the southern edge of Snezhnaya where individuals and factions from across Teyvat converge.
Version 6.0 introduced players to a colorful cast of new characters, but only three have been added to the playable roster: Lauma, Flins, and Aino. Flins and Aino will debut in the second half of the update, while Lauma is already available on the current Event Banners.
Lauma is a 5-Star Dendro Catalyst who boosts Lunar-Bloom and other Dendro reactions, making her a highly versatile support option. Importantly, her synergy with the upcoming Nefer is expected to be one of the most impactful combinations in the game.
Nefer: Character Overview
- Rarity: 5-Star
- Gender: Female
- Element: Dendro
- Weapon: Catalyst
- Constellation:Ludus Latrunculorum
Nefer will be the sole featured character in Version 6.1, as confirmed by Genshin Impact’s official social media channels. She is designed to be a Lunar-Bloom hypercarry, allowing Lauma to fully utilize her support capabilities.
Gameplay-wise, Nefer is a melee-range Catalyst user, similar to Wriothesley, though her playstyle is most often compared to Skirk. She builds resources by triggering Lunar-Bloom reactions, then spends them through empowered Charged Attacks enhanced by her Elemental Skill.
Team Synergy and Meta Implications
One key consideration is Nefer’s heavy reliance on Lauma. Much like Skirk benefits from Escoffier, Nefer’s full potential is unlocked when paired with Lauma, creating a significant power gap between teams that include her and those that do not.
This design trend—pairing characters to encourage dual pulls—has been a point of debate since the releases of Citlali and Mavuika, but it appears the developers are continuing to double down on it.
Fortunately, Version 6.0 offers a generous supply of Primogems. Even free-to-play players can expect to earn over 100 Intertwined Fates before Version 6.1 begins. Those who have been saving since before the Nod-Krai update should have a good chance of guaranteeing both 5-Stars by early November.
Looking Ahead
Players should also keep an eye on Version 6.3, which is rumored to introduce Columbina as a playable character. How she might complement a Nefer-focused team remains to be seen. For now, Nefer and Lauma form a potent core, leaving two flexible team slots that could be filled by characters such as Yelan, Xingqiu, Aino, Nahida, Baizhu, or Zhongli.
Genshin Impact Version 6.1 is scheduled to launch on October 22, 2025.
