Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Adds Secret Ending for Players Who Defeat Sigismund’s Army

Warhorse Studios has introduced a new secret ending to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, discovered by players following the release of the 1.4 patch and confirmed in the Legacy of the Forge DLC. This alternate conclusion appears in the quest “The Lion’s Den,” a mission that typically requires stealth, investigation, and political maneuvering. Instead of sneaking through Sigismund’s camp, players can now charge in and defeat the entire army on their own, unlocking an alternative outcome that dramatically alters the course of the story.

The secret ending is triggered if Henry of Skalitz manages to kill enough soldiers in Sigismund’s camp. When this happens, players receive a victory message declaring, “You changed history! Sigismund lost his army and returned to Hungary in disgrace. King Wenceslas acknowledged you as Sir Radzig’s rightful heir. You lived happily until 1416, when you set out with your father for Kuttensberg.” This provides an unusual twist in a game that has been noted for its commitment to historical realism, as it allows a single character to reshape the trajectory of European power by brute force alone.

We covered Warhorse’s addition of Hardcore Mode, which removes fast travel, the compass, and even the player’s position on the map, creating one of the most punishing RPG experiences currently available.

The conclusion mirrors what other RPGs have done in the past, such as Cyberpunk 2077’s famous “secret ending” where players can solo the final mission. But unlike the cybernetic protagonist of that game, Henry is a grounded medieval villager whose survival against impossible odds makes the feat even more striking. The historical irony of this alternate ending is that it doesn’t save Henry from fate. In 1416, Racek Kobyla of Dvorce, the real-world noble on whom Sir Radzig is based, was torn apart by peasants in Kuttenberg for supporting reformer Jan Hus. The ending implies that Henry meets a similar tragic fate, even if he temporarily succeeds in rewriting history on the battlefield.

The addition fixes an issue that players previously criticized. In earlier builds of the game, killing soldiers in Sigismund’s camp prematurely would simply saddle Henry with a heavy bounty and break quest progression, forcing players into awkward workarounds. Now, the alternate route is recognized with its own reward, making the choice to fight rather than sneak a valid path forward. Patch notes confirm the change, listing:

“Added Victory screen when killing a large number of soldiers in Sigismund’s camp.”

Warhorse Studios’ decision reflects its ongoing interest in giving players freedom to approach challenges in multiple ways while maintaining a balance between realism and rewarding gameplay. By acknowledging a player’s ability to overcome an entire army, the game now feels more consistent with its immersive design philosophy. The adjustment also strengthens replay value, giving players another reason to revisit The Lion’s Den quest with a new strategy.

The historical context further grounds the ending. By weaving in the Kuttenberg events of 1416, Warhorse ties the secret ending into actual recorded history, while still offering players a brief sense of triumph that ends in inevitable tragedy. It is an approach that fits the studio’s philosophy of merging player choice with the harsh realities of medieval life.
