Star Wars Outlaws Gets September Update on Nintendo Switch 2
Star Wars Outlaws has just received a new update on the Nintendo Switch 2, bringing a wave of bug fixes, visual improvements, and UI refinements. The patch, released on September 8, 2025, arrives only days after the game’s Switch 2 launch and addresses many of the performance concerns players raised during its debut.
🎮 A Rocky Start on Switch 2
Star Wars Outlaws originally launched two years ago, but its Nintendo Switch 2 release on September 4 came under scrutiny. Ubisoft has struggled with the game’s sales since its first launch, and rumors even circulated that a sequel may have been canceled.
Now, with this September update, Ubisoft appears intent on stabilizing the title’s performance and improving the overall experience for Switch 2 players.
Key Fixes and Gameplay Improvements
The update resolves a number of gameplay-related issues that directly impacted player experience:
- Fixed NPCs failing to spawn during certain quests (notably the “Crashed” quest on Toshara).
- Reduced the chance of Kay getting stuck when traversing environments.
- Improved stealth mechanics when hiding in tall grass on Akiva.
- General stability fixes to reduce crashes and glitches.
Visual & Performance Enhancements
Players on Switch 2 will notice smoother visuals and reduced distractions thanks to several graphical tweaks:
- Better image quality when using binoculars or moving quickly, reducing texture “pop-in.”
- Decreased flickering in smoke and lighting effects.
- Improved shadows, foliage, and light filtering through cloth and leaves.
- Other small but noticeable visual upgrades.
Camera & UI Tweaks
Ubisoft also addressed several immersion-breaking issues in the camera system and user interface:
- Fixed awkward camera movement when Kay traversed certain objects.
- Corrected controller prompts when switching between Joy-Cons and a Pro Controller.
- The gadget inventory HUD now properly resizes in handheld mode with custom scaling.
Story Pack Fixes
The update also made targeted improvements to additional content packs:
- Wild Card Story Pack – fixed NPC highlighting when using Nix to plant a card.
- A Pirate’s Fortune Story Pack – Mynocks now correctly appear when attached to ships.
What This Update Means for the Future
Ubisoft’s willingness to push a quick update may give Star Wars Outlaws another shot at success on Switch 2. If the game finds an audience on the platform, it could boost the chances of Ubisoft revisiting a potential sequel, despite earlier cancellation rumors.
For now, Switch 2 players can expect a smoother, more stable experience with fewer technical issues holding the game back.
