Fortnite Confirms It Won’t Return to iOS in the UK in 2025

Epic Games has delivered disappointing news for UK Fortnite fans — confirming that both Fortnite and the Epic Games Store will not be launching on *iOS devices in the United Kingdom in 2025, and possibly not at all.

As Chapter 6, Season 3 nears its end and excitement builds for Season 4’s debut in August, this unexpected announcement has tempered some of the enthusiasm among mobile players in the region.

Epic Games Store & Fortnite Blocked from iOS in the UK

In a recent statement on X (formerly Twitter), Epic Games explained that due to the UK Competition and Markets Authority’s (CMA) latest roadmap, the mobile app ecosystem in the UK remains closed off to true competition — effectively blocking the Epic Games Store and Fortnite from launching on iOS platforms in 2025.

This marks a reversal from May 2024, when Epic had stated that Fortnite would be coming to iOS in the UK thanks to new digital competition laws. Unfortunately, those hopes have now been dashed.

🦸 Upcoming Content Still Driving Hype

Despite the mobile setback, Epic continues pushing major content drops. One of the most anticipated collaborations is the crossover with Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps, premiering July 25. A full set of Fantastic Four skins is set to debut, featuring:

  • Mister Fantastic
  • Invisible Woman
  • The Thing
  • Human Torch

While fans have long awaited their arrival, Doctor Doom — the franchise's iconic villain — has already made appearances in two earlier Marvel-themed seasons.

🇺🇸 Fortnite Still Thriving on iOS in the U.S.

This news is especially frustrating for UK players, given Fortnite’s recent return to iOS in the United States after years of absence. Epic even celebrated the U.S. relaunch by offering free cosmetics to players who logged in on mobile devices.

Unfortunately, UK users won’t be receiving the same treatment anytime soon.

⚖️ Epic Faces Legal Hurdles on Another Front

Meanwhile, Epic Games is also grappling with legal issues elsewhere. The SAG-AFTRA union recently filed a lawsuit against the company for its AI-generated voice usage in Fortnite. The legal action follows the release of a fully voiced Darth Vader during the Galactic Battle mini-season — the largest Star Wars collaboration to date.

Players could squad up with Vader and interact with him via real-time, AI-generated voice chat, sparking both excitement and controversy.

🔮 Looking Ahead

While the news may be disappointing for mobile users in the UK, the broader Fortnite ecosystem continues to expand, with new seasons, collaborations, and gameplay features keeping the global community engaged.

Still, it remains unclear when — or if — UK iOS players will once again join the battle.
