Sloclap Reveals Roadmap for Rematch: Crossplay, Ranked Modes, and Major Features Incoming

On July 18, Sloclap—the developer behind Rematchunveiled a detailed content roadmap outlining key updates and features set to roll out in the coming months. Released on June 19, Rematch marks a bold shift for the studio, best known for its martial arts action titles Absolver and Sifu. This new project swaps hand-to-hand combat for high-speed, arcade-style team soccer, while retaining the studio's signature emphasis on precise timing and lightning-fast reflexes.

A Successful Pivot into Competitive Sports

Sloclap’s gamble on a new genre is paying off. Rematch has already surpassed one million players within 24 hours of launch—a major milestone for the studio. In its current form, the game pits players into online 3v3 to 5v5 matches, with each individual controlling a specific role: attacker, defender, or goalkeeper. For now, only ranked 5v5 queues are available, but the roadmap promises more formats and matchmaking options in the near future.

Key Updates Coming Soon: Crossplay & Ranked Queues

Among the most anticipated features is crossplay, which Sloclap has now confirmed will launch in September, timed with the start of the game’s first official season. The update will also introduce in-game reporting tools, allowing players to flag toxic behavior directly.

Additionally, a new ranked queue is currently in development. While the specifics remain under wraps—including what the mode entails and when it will launch—it may tie into the tournament mode teased by the studio in an earlier blog post.

Improvements for PC Players and Progression System Changes

The roadmap also outlines several PC-specific enhancements. An upcoming patch will bring:

  • Better tap aiming precision
  • Mouse sensitivity settings
  • The option to aim using WASD keys

These quality-of-life improvements reflect Sloclap’s commitment to community feedback. The team is also evaluating changes to Rematch’s ranking and progression system. Proposed tweaks include:

  • Adjustments to demotion protection
  • Refinement of skill-based matchmaking
  • Ensuring players can still queue with friends regardless of rank differences

What Else Is on the Horizon?

Despite being only a month old, Rematch has received steady support through hotfixes and regular communication from the developers. In a previous blog post, Sloclap hinted at additional features currently in the works, including:

While the July 18 roadmap doesn't clarify the nature of the upcoming ranked mode, it’s plausible this mystery queue will evolve into the tournament system mentioned earlier.
