ICC’s Ambitious Mobile Game Plans Attract Industry Heavyweights

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is making rapid progress on its goal to launch a premier mobile cricket game. Following a call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) in June, the governing body has drawn attention from several of the biggest names in the global gaming industry.

Major Players Eye Partnership with ICC

According to The Economic Times, top contenders for this partnership reportedly include KRAFTON, EA Sports, Dream11, and Nazara Technologies. Other interested parties are JetSynthesys and MPL. Each is keen to collaborate on what could become a landmark title for cricket fans worldwide.

The ICC’s vision is to deliver a world-class mobile experience that leverages cricket’s immense popularity—especially in cricket-loving regions like India, where the mobile gaming industry alone is worth over $3.8 billion. With growth in broadcast revenue showing signs of plateauing, the ICC is actively exploring digital avenues to engage fans in new ways.

Tender Stage Approaching

The EOI window officially closed on June 27, 2025. The ICC is now in the process of finalizing a shortlist. Chosen developers will soon be invited to take part in the formal tender phase, where they’ll submit detailed proposals, including budgets, gameplay concepts, and creative strategies.

A Competitive Playing Field

The ICC faces stiff competition from established cricket games like WCC3, Real Cricket, and Dream Cricket—the latter developed by Dream11 itself. These titles already dominate the charts, and new cricket games continue to flood the market. To stand out, the ICC’s game will need more than just official branding; it must deliver genuine innovation, polish, and an engaging user experience.

Huge Opportunity for New Entrants

Interestingly, neither KRAFTON nor EA Sports currently offers a cricket title. This project presents a rare opportunity for them to tap into a massive, underserved market and broaden their global user base.
