A LEGO Master Recreates the Entire Skyrim Map with Over 70,000 Bricks

A devoted fan has brought the world of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to life in an extraordinary way—by constructing a complete 3D map of the game using LEGO. This colossal project, comprised of exactly 73,761 bricks, captures the full scale and topographic detail of one of the most iconic open-world games ever created.

The mastermind behind the build is Ian Roosma, a Guinness World Record holder. Known for his ambitious LEGO creations, Ian spent over three years on the Skyrim map: nine months planning and two and a half years building. The final result is an 8-foot-wide by 6.3-foot-tall (243 cm by 192 cm) relief model made from 44 stacked layers of bricks, forming an impressively accurate representation of Skyrim’s mountainous terrain.

A Monumental Tribute to Skyrim

Ian’s LEGO map features:

  • 73,761 LEGO bricks
  • 5,776 trees
  • 292 in-game locations
  • Topographical accuracy, including mountains, rivers, and waterfalls
  • Scale dimensions: 8 feet wide × 6.3 feet tall

What sets this creation apart is not just its size but its stunning detail. Ian meticulously recreated nearly 300 iconic locations from the game, alongside thousands of trees and realistic terrain shifts. He described the project as the perfect blend of his passion for Skyrim and his love for large-scale LEGO design:

“It was the perfect project because it combined my passion for the game with the challenge of designing and building something so large, detailed, and with topographic detail.”

Community Reactions and Ian’s Future Plans

The project was met with widespread admiration when Ian shared it on YouTube. Fans hailed it as one of the most impressive fan-made tributes to Skyrim, with many expressing awe at the precision and scale. Some even inquired about what Ian plans to build next—but for now, he says he’s taking a break from LEGO to enjoy the newly released The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

Not Ian Roosma’s First LEGO World

This isn’t Ian’s first venture into LEGO gaming maps. In 2021, he earned a Guinness World Record by recreating the Hyrule map from the original Legend of Zelda on NES, using over 25,000 LEGO bricks. However, his Skyrim build is nearly three times larger, making it his most ambitious and record-breaking work to date.
