GTA 6 Now Available to Wishlist on Xbox — With a Small Surprise Download

More than a month after it appeared on the PlayStation Store, Grand Theft Auto 6 is finally available to wishlist on the Xbox Store, setting the stage for its 2026 release. Xbox Series X/S users who wishlist the game will automatically download a small 300 MB pre-load file—a placeholder and not the full game. This feature is unique to Xbox and doesn't occur on PlayStation 5.

🚨 Rockstar Shocks Fans With Trailer 2 and Massive Info Drop

Last month, Rockstar Games released the much-anticipated second trailer for GTA 6, alongside a newly updated website featuring:

  • Over 70 new screenshots
  • Fresh details on the game’s setting and characters

As confirmed in Trailer 1 (2023), the story follows Jason and Lucia, two protagonists caught in a criminal conspiracy after a routine job goes sideways. The narrative promises high-stakes action and a deep character bond, with Rockstar emphasizing the importance of their partnership for survival.

📅 Release Delayed to May 2026

Initially expected to launch in Fall 2025, Rockstar has officially delayed GTA 6 to May 26, 2026, stating the extra time is needed to meet the high expectations placed on the studio.

💻 What About PC?

Currently, there’s no confirmed PC release date. However, based on Rockstar’s previous release patterns:

  • GTA 5 arrived on PC nearly two years after its console debut.
  • Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on PC one year later.

Take-Two CEO has hinted that GTA 6 will follow a similar path: releasing first on consoles and coming to PC later.

With Xbox players finally able to wishlist the game and Rockstar doubling down on expectations, GTA 6 is shaping up to be the studio’s most ambitious project yet—even if fans have to wait a little longer to play it.
